Tristan has been in the interpreting field since 2013. He graduated from NTID/RIT in Rochester NY in 2014, where he started his career working in higher ed as part of the RIT Department of Access Services. Since then, he has worked in a wide variety of settings including higher ed, behavioral health, medical, theatrical, and video relay interpreting. He has lived in Chicago since 2019, when he moved to join his now-spouse. Tristan currently works full time at Sorenson as a VRS interpreter, in addition to continuing his freelance practice. Tristan holds two bachelors degrees, one in Theatre & French from the University at Buffalo (2007), and the other in ASL-English Interpretation from NTID (2014). He has a Masters of Public Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago (2023) with a concentration in disability policy. He achieved RID certification in 2017, and is currently licensed to practice in nine different states. Tristan is also passionate about cultivating new interpreters and regularly works with practicum students and novices to help develop their skills and encouraging them to think more deeply about their work and the impact it has on the communities interpreters serve.
