Volunteer

Actively involved members are the backbone of a successful member driven organization such as IRID. As an RID Affiliate Chapter, our work has a direct impact on the interpreting profession at the state and local level. Through volunteering your time and skills, you can make a difference.

There are many ways you can be of service. Do you feel you already have or want to develop strong leadership skills? Do you want to contribute to the future growth and direction of the organization? Perhaps a position on the board of directors or as a committee chair is right for you. Are you more interested in working behind the scenes or just want to get your feet wet? Focus on one project and move on? Volunteering for a standing or ad hoc committee, working group, workshop, or conference may be the way to go.

Whatever time or talents you can offer will help us become the best RID affiliate chapter in the nation and make a real impact on interpreters, students of interpreting and the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf/Blind communities that we serve.

Standing Committees

Committees provide regular, ongoing opportunities for members to contribute to the growth and direction of the organization—to make a real difference for interpreters, students of interpreting, and the Deaf Community we serve. Please take the time to consider joining a committee. If you know of a colleague with a passion to serve and would like to recommend them as a committee member or chairperson, we would be happy to contact her/him/them on your behalf.
